Grandmaster Chee Kim Thong 徐金棟

Grandmaster Chee Kim Thong started the first overseas Wuzuquan School in the United Kingdom in 1974 appointing Master Han Jin Yuan (Han Kim Sen) his 17th disciple, Chief Instructor of the UK and Europe on the 15th August 1992.

Grandmaster Chee Kim Thong (Chinese name: Xu Jin Dong 徐金棟) was born on Wednesday 19th May 1920 in a small village in Putian, Fujian, China. At the age of ten he left Putian to find employment in a rickshaw repair shop in Xiamen, Fujian, China. It was from this point Grandmaster Chee started his martial art journey learning from the following exceptional masters.

  • Master Toh Yit Choon 杜一川 – Northern Shaolin Luohan system
  • Master Lin Xian 林賢 – Five Ancestor Fist system
  • Master Yáng Yuē 楊約 – Five Element Palm, Wu Mei system
  • Abbot Yik Cha’an Cha’an Sze’ 一心禪師 – Wujiquan, Luohan Ru Yi Quan, 18 Luohan Fist

In 1989 Grandmaster Chee Kim Thong was declared a National Treasure by the Chinese government for the services he rendered to the community at large in China and Malaysia as a Martial Arts Master and an acupuncturist / healer. In 1995, Grandmaster Chee Kim Thong was awarded the honorific title of ‘dato/datuk’ (Malaysian equivalent of the English ‘knighthood’) for his exceptional medical expertise in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Between 1974 to 1994 Grandmaster Chee visited the UK several times establishing a school with his disciple Master Han Jin Yuan.

Grandmaster Chee Kim Thong 1920 – 2001
